Ansell's Burslem Brewery

The Burslem Brewery was founded by Henry Parker in 1860, later being incorporated as Parker's Burslem Brewery in 1889. As the business grew, Parker acquired numerous public houses and other associated properties throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire, and by 1897 they had over 250 tied houses

In the 20th Century the business continued to expand, acquiring other local businesses, breweries and public houses. At the point of being acquired by Ind Coope Ltd in 1949 they had 468 tied houses. The brewery carried the Ansell's name until its closure in 1963. Several of the brewery buildings were subsequently demolished, although some buildings remain in Pitt Street East
